Math and Sports

Mathematics in sports or sports in mathematics? As the code is taken, we can do it
to say that these are two closely related fields that occupy many, both mathematicians and athletes, but primarily athletes-mathematicians
(that is, mathematicians-athletes).
The use of mathematics in sports has been present since its earliest beginnings and most basic levels. We can say that the very competitive spirit of sports stems from mathematics. How will we determine the winner of a game, a match, well
even fights if we don't constantly and in detail monitor the result and its change? It's not
is it hard "
from the eye" to determine which athlete threw the ball, javelin, hammer or
disk if we do not use measuring instruments that precisely measure and compare the obtained results? These are just some of the many most basic problems
which is solved by mathematics in sports.


Second grade students learned the application of mathematics in sports, included in their curriculum. As we process the quadratic function, we looked at where the parabola is used in sport.
Students made presentations dealing with one sport and applying the parable in the sport they chose.

Team 7 - Mixed Teams activity_New Year Calendar

When creating New Year's calendars, we were divided into 7 teams. Each team consisted of 3 to 5 teachers and up to ten students. Also, each team received a topic that the students of the team will deal with and will use the given topic to decorate the joint New Year's calendar. My team was Team 7 and teachers were: Çiğdem Durmuş / Huriye Eren Secondary School, Džiralda H. Mehmedagić , JU Seventh Elementary School Gornji Rahić, Mirjana Kovačević Bašić and Mira Matijašević from Elementary School Žnjan-Pazdigrad and me, Marica Brzica , from Elementary School Visoka in Split. The theme we got was "Math Quotes". We met through the ESEP Chat meeting channel and agreed on the steps for creating the parts of the calendar that we are responsible for. We met on December 14, 2023. Math & Games in Elementary school Visoka

We decided to create math games in a completely new tool - Genially. We tried a number of templates and created an Escape room for students from a neighboring school. We had fun and learned to work in a new digital tool. The best was the finale in the form of an online meeting between our students and teachers.  Students from Elementary School Visoka spent the day at the Project Day. They were on the Marjan hill in Split and could not come to the online meeting. Teacher Marica Brzica spoke on their behalf, praising the project and all the activities. She expressed the desire of the students to participate in the project again.
